Convert Universal Transverse Mercator to Degrees Minutes Seconds

To convert UTM to DMS: first apply the inverse UTM projection to get Decimal Degrees, then convert DD to DMS using D = floor(DD), M = floor((DD-D)×60), S = ((DD-D)×60-M)×60.

How to Convert UTM to DMS: Step by Step

  1. 1 Apply inverse UTM projection to get Decimal Degrees.
  2. 2 Extract whole degrees.
  3. 3 Multiply the remainder by 60 to get whole minutes.
  4. 4 Multiply the remaining fraction by 60 to get seconds.
  5. 5 Add directional suffix (N/S/E/W).

Inverse UTM → 47.6062° → 47°36'22"N

Longitude conversion:
